Kathmandu: The Nepal Handicrafts Federation has announced the 21st Handicraft Trade Fair and the 19th Handicraft Competition, scheduled to take place from December 5 to 9 in Kathmandu. The events aim to promote Nepali handicrafts in both national and international markets, showcasing the craftsmanship of local artists, industrialists, and sculptors.
Supported by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply and the Trade and Exports Promotion Centre, the fair will provide a platform for artisans and entrepreneurs to exchange knowledge, enhance designs, and interact with customers from around the globe.
The competition will reward top creators with cash prizes: Rs 50,000 for first place, Rs 30,000 for second place, and Rs 20,000 for third place, fostering innovation and excellence in the field.
Fair coordinator Dilli Ratna Tuladhar highlighted that the event would facilitate knowledge-sharing among participants and strengthen Nepal's handicraft industry. Meanwhile, Federation Chairman Prachanda Shakya shared that invitations had been extended to international guests, further elevating the fair's global outreach.
This annual event continues to celebrate Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, providing artisans with opportunities to gain recognition and boost exports.
